The Apartment

The apartment where I am staying is actually the same exact apartment and room I had stayed when I visited Delhi last year. Located at a nice residential area called Greater Kailash Part 2 or GK 2, just about 20min away from the office.
滞在しているアパートは実は去年デリーに来た時に泊まったところと同じアパート、同じ部屋。会社から20分くらい離れているGK2というエリアの閑静な住宅街にある。

The apartment is where the green gate is. It is filled with lots of green!

This place has few other guests staying and this is the common lounge area.
このアパートには他数名のゲストが滞在していて、ここは共同のリビング／ラウンジエリア。

There are few helpers at the apartment who clean and cook for the guests.
Here they are cooking dinner in the kitchen.
ここには何人かお部屋のお掃除やゴハンを作ってくれるスタッフがいて、キッチンで今夜の夕食の準備中。

But there are bills that are pre-Gandhi and antique looking with many holes.
ガンジー以前の穴だらけなアンティークなお札もある

Almost always, I need to break the bills that are over 500 rupees for the auto rickshaw and taxi drivers. They never carry any change. A cost to the office from the apartment on a taxi is about 150-200 rupees (= 300 to 400 yen) and on a rickshaw ranges from 40 -50 rupees (= 80 to 100 yen) depending on how I bargain. Yes, it is tedious having the need to bargain with the driver every time, especially for the auto rickshaw but this is one of the many basic things getting used to living in India.

ほとんどと言っていいくらいタクシーやリキシャーのドライバーはお釣りを持っていないので、500ルピー以上のお札は両替しておかないとならない。アパートからオフィスまでタクシーだと300-400円くらい、リキシャーは80-100円ほど。とくにリキシャードライバーとは値段の交渉を毎回乗る前にするのでちょっと面倒だけれど、これはインドの生活には基本的なことで慣れてくる。

A ride on a go-cart after work

It's usually dark when I go home but I left work today while it was still light outside. This is a typical way back after work or elsewhere: a bumpy, noisy, traffic heavy 20 min+ ride on an auto rickshaw.

いつも仕事が終わる時間は真っ暗だけど、今日はまだ明るい内に退社。毎日のオートリキシャーはガタガタ、騒音に囲まれ、渋滞にハマりながら移動している。

A ride on the hippie bus to work

The interior of this taxi van was pretty trippy.
このタクシー・バンのインテリア、ぶっ飛んでる。


and the ride... pretty bumpy as always. Not as bad as the auto rickshaw.
そして乗り心地はあいかわらずガタガタ。でもオートリキシャーより悪くない。

Cell Phone

I'm finally provided with a cell phone! But still waiting for a SIM card and charger.
Patience is really required here...
やっとケイタイを支給してもらった！でもSIMカードと充電器待ち。ここではは気長に待つしかない。

I wonder if I will ever get to text message in Hindi!
いつかヒンディーでテキストメッセージうてるようになるかな？！

A commute to work
